This is a very nice lens, you get L quality, great images and top build quality, for an inexpensive price. I have used it a few times, actually I am so happy with the images, that I upgraded to the more expensive 16-35 f2.8LII. No damage, no scratch, no mark, no dust inside the lens, it is in NEW condition. I sent my 5D recently to Canon service center for cleaning, so I took the occasion to send this lens along to calibrate the autofocus, now it is perfectly sharp. I never used the hood and cannot manage to find it. To make up for this, I will include a (much more useful) Hoya multi-coated filter. This is the top of the line in terms of filters, Hoya is the largest maker of optical glass in the world, and their filters are the highest quality (in particular they specialty lens elements to Canon).
