Description
Brand new DA YI 6x17 roll film back for 4x5 (latest version) a short reviewThis clever two part 6x17 format International fit attaches via a Graflok 4x5 back. So it's suitable for Sinar, Linhof, Horseman, Toyo, Wista, and other 4x5 view or field cameras with an international backThe roll film holder is held in place by two spring steel bands which compress onto two protruding lugs on the roll film part of the holder. The film is loaded into the holder with the help of a spring loaded retractable bottom bracket. The film is advanced by a knob rather than by a lever. There is a large spring loaded pressure plate to keep the film flat and rollers at each end at the bend near the film spools. On the half of the holder, immediately next to the dark slide, there are two pin rollers like the kind on later Graflex RH-8 holders to facilitate the film transport. The Dark slide moves in a recessed track and pulls in and out smoothly. The film advance is manual and the frame number is indicated in the window in the back of the holder. One can observe the frame numbers as printed on the back of 120 film (precluding 220 film). By advancing the film on alternating frames, i.e., 1,3,5,7, etc., on either the 6x17, 6x12 or the 6x9 windows proper frame spacing can be maintained quite easily. The ground glass viewer clips into place using the graflock tabs on the camera and holds a ground glass that is marked out for the usual 6x17/6x12/6x9 formats. A bellows is attached that extends by pulling the outer edge of the frame along a small "monorail". It locks firmly into position and provides adequate shading for the image to be viewed on the screen. The film back will fit lenses from 72mm to 150mm, it can go further to 210mm with a trade-off (slight vignetting) -- "you can get about 6x16.5 with a 168mm lens or about 6x15 with a 210mm lens" (some of the wording are from ebay user "sky_and_earth", and from a review by Paul Owen. thanks) it has a default open of 6x17, and comes with 6x9 / 6x12 masks (shows how 6x9 mask is attached in the picture)??
